Henwen is a wise Celtic goddess, historically appearing as a magic pig, but who has now evolved into five women from the Robin Hoods Bay area of North Yorkshire who sing stunning contemporary acapella.

They are : Gillian Edwards, Fay Gillanders, Magda Phillips, Jill Sampson and Rowena Sommerville.

In October 07 Henwen toured nationally with Ian McMillan, performing HAPPEN, a work for six voices (5 Hens + Ian). Happen explores time, choice, happen as maybe, waiting, dreaming, etc and has been created by the performers. Happen has been described as ‘extraordinary, mesmerising, sublime’ and other words like that! We hope to perform the piece again in 2008, and possibly to record it.
